{color story} yes, red skinny jeans. but what else?

red-y for the fall

red-y for the fall
I'll be the first to admit I'm positively dying for a pair of red skinny jeans for fall. I know everyone, and I mean everyone, wants them, and I'm not ashamed to jump on the bandwagon. Red is absolutely the break-out color of the season, but it's so much more than jeans! This universally flattering color is popping up in just about every conceivable form, from structured blazers to ladylike flats. Beyond those ubiquitous skinnies, I'm thinking of trading out my traditional navy-and-white Breton stripes for red-and-navy. Come to think of it, mixing the above tee and floral skirt seems like a rather divine mix, don't you think?

PS: Beyonce is preggers y'all. Just the idea of Jay-Z as a dad and how blinged-out this baby is going to be makes me really, really happy. Oh, and she looks stunning in red.

Are you going to be seeing red this Fall? Tell me how, tell me when, tell me whyyyyy! (Please?)

{summer staple} navy, white & neutral

Some of you are probably reading this post going, "Duh, Taylor, duh," because navy is such an eternally good move. It will always be such. Perhaps it's so obvious you barely notice the choice anymore. I'll admit though, it took me a while to come around to this dark blue hue, because I most often default to black. The kicker is that navy is just as easy, simple and chic, but has even more versatility. Navy can be tailored, structured and professional, but it can also be sun-bleached, worn-in and soft. No matter what you might be purchasing - pants, a sweater, a dress a necklace - you cannot, I repeat cannot go wrong with navy. This summer, I'm feeling a pretty nautical-meets-collegiate-meets-I-think-I'm-getting-the-hang-of-this-East-Coast-thing color palette. Navy, white and neutrals; with pops of bright, fresh hues like coral and minty green.

Alright, that concludes this post from Captain Obvious. Hopefully I haven't lost you over this one, next time I'll try and spice it up a bit. A post devoted to versatility of the little black dress, perhaps?
