10 things i need for spring...

Breath a collective sigh of relief with me readers, March is here. We survived the dreaded doldrums of February. The official beginning of Spring is just a few weeks away, and it really can't come soon enough. My first east coast winter has been long and cold, and I am so ready to retire my tights and boots. It is still a bit too chilly for head-to-toe Spring wardrobing, but now is definitely the time to start shopping around for the key items you want to update your look, and perhaps infuse some of them into your end-of-winter-wear. Being a realistic person, I know that I probably won't end up purchasing all the "essentials" I need to stay au courant this spring, but even having a few of these will help my old staples feel fresh. From a white blazer to a washed silk blouse to a pair of menswear-inspired tassel flats, these are the 10 pieces I most want for my Spring 2011 wardrobe.

outfit lust: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

There's so much here that I like that it's a little bit hard for me to talk about.

Ballet flats.

Olive skinnies.

Chunky neutral knit.

Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton bag (I think).

Felt wide-brim hat.

It's casual, it's chic, it's all I want to be this spring.

Huh, guess it wasn't really that hard for me to talk about.

{feeling inspired by} Prada SS11 stripes...

The weather in NYC yesterday was unseasonably warm and quite sunny. Walking down West 19th street in the afternoon wind, I had a sudden and violent urge don bright colors and a bold pattern or two - at the same time. As the dirty snow piles get smaller and smaller, my visions of cherry blossoms and green leaves become more and more vivid. The punchy stripes at Prada's Spring/Summer 2011 show really revved my sartorial engines, and finding some choice horizontal lines in shades of fuchsia and jade is high on my spring must list.

speaking of updating my sexy shoe wardrobe...

Remember a few weeks ago when I posted this, about my desire to amp up the sexy in my shoe wardrobe? Well, I haven't really, yet. Mostly because it's the dead of winter and I'm saving up to buy some snow boots. However, it's only January and I'm already dreaming of all the saucy, sexy, sweet and sassy little shoes I want to wear this spring. A little early I know, but I can't help it. Working (err, interning) in the fashion industry means you love next Spring's things in the Fall and next Fall's things in the Spring. Gaze with me, wont you, upon these ridiculous but rather irresistable shoes from Mui Mui's Spring 2011 collection:

mui mui SS11 mui mui SS11

mui mui SS11 mui mui SS11

Don't worry, I already know what you're thinking: Those shoes with all the little ankle straps look like the most painful things to walk in, perhaps ever. The model's feet look seriously strained. But ladies, don't even try to tell me that you wouldn't feel incredibly awesome wearing these shoes. I'm painting a wonderful mental image of myself sporting a pair of these with a pencil skirt and a cashmere twinset. Can you imagine? The contrast of such a conservative ensemble with absolutely over-the-top trendy, loud, neon, metalic, strappy, sexy shoes - makes me giddy.

Now that I've gotten that out of my system, I suppose I should focus on those snow boots... Ugh, winter.
