{dressing the part} Margot Tenenbaum...

"I think we're just gonna to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that, Ritchie"

Next up in my little series on characters with style I love, Margot Tenenbaum. She's about as quirky as they come; adopted into a wildly dysfunctional family, a genius, smoking by 12 and a playwright by 14, already divorced and remarried, and in love with her brother. Throughout the film her wardrobe hardly wavers. She straddles a line between a grown up and a child: wearing an array of Lacoste tennis dresses with a Fendi fur coat and Hermes bag, but clipping her hair back in a plastic barrette and rimming her eyes in black.

Margot is an example of one of those characters whose style you don't necessarily want to copy piece for piece, but the overall effect is mesmerizing. She sort of makes you wish you were the kind of dark, twisted, complicated and crazy woman that feels like she couldn't get through a single day without a fur coat and a cigarette.
